The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Digital Channels Response Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Size Classification Modifications Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Service Background The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
